Hi again! How was your weekend? :) Ours was sweet — full of family time, planting flowers in the yard, and Aaron even smoked a brisket! He’s been learning how to smoke meats lately, and it’s so fun to watch him light up while he’s doing it.
Anyway, it’s a new week! Ready to jump back into the Spring 10×10? I sure am!
(In case you’re not sure what I’m talking about, here’s what’s up: I’m co-hosting a remix challenge with my blogging bestie Lee of Style Bee: 10 pieces of clothing, 10 outfits, 10 days. And it’s not to late too join in! We’re all working on our own time table here — some are wrapping up, some are just starting, some are right in the middle. So hop on in — here’s my quick start guide.)
First Impressions
Even though I took a break from the 10×10 over the weekend, I ended up wearing this outfit all day yesterday — Easter vibes all the way. And instead of my lace-up sandals, I wore my Bryr clog sandals to dress things up a bit more.
I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling energized with this 10×10 right now — and I’m a little surprised about that. Usually I’m lacking energy at this point. But I’m taking this challenge less seriously than ever before — in a good way. I’m just making basic ol’ outfits that feel good to wear. Nothing groundbreaking. Just having a good time with it. So I think that relaxed approach is helping me stay energetic.
And on the note of basic ol’ outfits, here we are again with another not-so-unique outfit. It looks a whole lot like last Tuesday’s outfit. However, while it’s essentially the same outfit, the shoes change up this outfit’s functionality. See, I have this quirk — I like to wear closed toe shoes if I’m going to be in a crowded place, like a concert, restaurant, airport, etc.. I’ve had foot pain issues for a couple years, and I just feel more at ease when my foot is covered and people can’t accidentally step on my toes.
I knew I’d be in a crowded place last Tuesday so I opted for booties. But no crowded places today, so sandals it is! So even though these outfits look similar, the different shoes change up the functionality.
Probably too much personal info for you. :) But there you go.
Styling Notes
SUBTLE STATEMENTS | To me, the color of this top and the lace up element of those sandals are statements — subtle statements. But by not adding other accessories to the outfit, I’m letting these subtle statements take center stage.
LACE UP SANDALS + CUFFED JEANS | Since these lace-up sandals have a lot going on at the ankle, I cuffed my jeans a little higher above the ankle. It’s a small tweak that gives everything room to breathe.
CROP TOP + HIGH WAIST | Remember how I said you’ll see this proportion a lot in these styling notes. :) There’s not much to say about it except, here it is again!

And there you have it!
Make sure to hop on over to Lee’s blog to see her outfit today, too!
How about you? Have you noticed any quirks when it comes to getting dressed lately? We all have different preferences and needs when it comes to getting dressed, so I’m curious to hear how you accommodate ’em.
Keep sharing your outfits on Instagram with the #spring10x10 tag.
See you tomorrow!

Shoes, handbags and glasses for me change up my basic comfort outfits. When you have a look you like…why not duplicate it?Same theory goes for our homes. Changing up a few things lets our foundations shine…every season.-Laurel Bledsoe
Love this, Caroline! Happy Monday!

No wonder you wore this outfit all day! It looks very cool!

Since you re-wear a lot of the same things, do you also have a post on how to care/wash your items? For me, I do laundry once a week so I couldn’t wear the same shirt twice in a week.

You look great, Caroline! I love that you’re not holding yourself to an unneeded ‘every outfit has to be unique in the fashion blogging universe!’ standard :) You’re just wearing what you wear and that real-ness is what makes your blog one of my absolute favorites!
I agree! Who ever invented the idea not to be seen in the same outfit twice?
Like a total freak, I’ve worn the same outfit for three days and it’s spring break, so no one can stop me!!! Three days of feeling happy and cozy is fine with me.

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies! :)
Also, if anyone’s interested, I’ve done a first-half wrap-up of my spring10x10 outfits and insights here:

Thanks for posting! I’ll check that out.
Greetings! I have been enjoying the 10 x 10 challenge. Your outfits and mine! Like this outfit the best as I can see myself in the color choices. I also take the same approach to shoe choices in large crowds. I am commenting today mostly to thank You (with congratulations on your Magnolia piece) for being an inspiration to so many women who are determined to have style be the goal, not just fashion.Your capsule concept has been a fun, interesting, challenging yet fruitful exercise for me. You have been a beacon of light in this over costumed, fast fashion, consumerism mindset. I am making my selections with Way more discernment and peaceful with the results. Authenticity is my goal…and I recognize the same in your blog. Blessings..
Thanks so much, Lisa! It means a lot to hear the kind words. :)
Caroline, I’m catching up with un-fancy after being on vacation all last week, and I’m loving your color palette and outfit choices for this 10×10 so far! It feels both springy and authentically you! So beautiful!

Thanks, Anna! Glad to have you back. :) Hope you enjoyed your vacation.
I can totally understand wanting to wear closed toe shoes in public places! Wearing sandals to a concert is just a recipe for disaster (and pain) in my book, haha.

The Two Fold Clothing shirt is sold out :( (just as I was about to buy it too!). Do you have any recommendations for a raw silk shirt in a similar color? I was looking at Jamie and the Jones, but I’m not quite sure if the color is right.
Hey Alissa! Oh no! Sorry to hear that — the word is to keep a look out in the next couple weeks. But if you want to buy sooner than later, the color is really similar on that Jamie + the Jones tee. Has a peach undertone, with an overall blush feel. At least from what I could tell! Good luck! :)
Thanks Caroline! I emailed her and she said they’ll be back soon.
Love your outfit! Your style is amazing <3

Really liking your comfortable, every-day looks in this 10×10, Caroline! Reassures me, in my own (very understated, super-simple) clothing choices. Simple really does look – and feel – better, I find.

Loving the color of the top! I’m going for a slightly darker, rosier hue for my spring/summer wardrobe :)
I was wondering if you were going to end up repeating outfits since you stated you wouldn’t be trying anything ground breaking (uncomfortable, out of usual style) .
I’m glad you commented on the whole Tuesday thing. I don’t own a lot of shoes so changing up shoes doesn’t really constitute a new outfit in my book. but that could be just me.
Still looking forward to see what else comes up in the rest of the week.
Absolutely love your blog. Creating a capsule wardrobe was the best thing I ever did. I’m only 5’2 so I like to make sure I show a little ankle – it makes me feel taller.
Smoked brisket is the bomb. :)
The 10×10 has been really enlightening, I’ve been feeling far more inspired in the middle of it that I was a month ago. (The nice warm air and sunshine might be helping as well!) It’s been fun to see everyone’s outfits and outlook on it and just from a style point of view, it’s great to see how just a small tweak makes for a big difference. It reminds me for those Lucky articles where they would style 19 items, including accessories for 45 days and how different each of the outfits would look, even though 19 doesn’t sound like that many items! Style magazines use to be a lot more fun….
Katie! I love that. Thanks for sharing your experience. :) (And I agree about the old fashion magazines!)
I have the same thing about closed toes in crowded places and always thought I’m the weird one haha ;) Maybe I wouldn’t care so much at an airport, but a concert or a clubnight is definitely the place for a closed-toe! I always have this image in front of my eyes of people stepping on my toenails and crushing them, ugh!
Also I absolutely love the way you combine crop tops with high-rise skinny jeans! I was thinking of getting a crop top myself last summer and pairing it with a high-rise skirt, but then ditched the idea as it seemed stupid to buy something I could only wear with one bottom. I may come back to this idea this time!
Hi Caroline,
What s with the new corner to shoot? Is it placed in your house? it looks very nice :)
Not much variety in this challenge but I like the way you keep it simple and cozy in the same time :D
xoxo

Hey Andreea! I’m just trying different things out right now — some out and about photos, and some photos in this cool warehouse-y space you’ve been seeing! :)
