Outfit EIGHT! We’re almost done, you guys.
I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to reflect on everything I’ve learned over the past two weeks and it feels invigorating to see all these lessons come together.
My 10×10 co-host, Lee of Style Bee and I have loved seeing you guys share what you’ve learned via the #spring10x10. Keep ’em coming! We love reading your thoughts and seeing how we all approach getting dressed in different ways. In next Monday’s wrap up post, I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learned so far, too.
But in the meantime, we still have two more outfits to go!
First Impressions
Oh man! I’m SO happy to see this shirt! I haven’t worn it at all during this challenge — no idea how that happened. But it’s kind of nice because usually, at this point in the challenge, I’m a little tired of my 10 pieces. Definitely not tired of this one. :)
It’s heating up today — almost 90 degrees, whew. I’ll be running errands like crazy this afternoon because tomorrow we’re headed off to Las Vegas. So, trip prep y’know.
This outfit works for those errands because the hat will keep the sun off my face, the breezy silk top will keep me cool, and the flat sandals will keep my feet happy.
Styling Notes
HAT | My best advice when it comes to feeling confident + comfortable wearing a hat? Don’t just wear it for style. Wear it when it has a purpose — like shade or warmth. Today, it’ll serves as shade, as I’m out and about running errands.
MIX FANCY WITH CASUAL | I wanted to style this silk top in a casual way, and I’m really happy with the result. To me, this top is quite dressy — what with it being black silk and all — but mixed with a straw hat and lace up sandals, it takes on a relaxed vibe. I like it.
ACCESSORIES! FINALLY! | Okay, so I haven’t been into accessories at all lately. But here’s an example of some thoughtful accessories! Hat, bag, and sandals all in this yummy, summery golden yellow.

And there you have it!
Make sure to hop on over to Lee’s blog to see her outfit today, too!
So tell me, have you worn all your 10 pieces yet, or did you end up overlooking one until now? Are you tired of your 10 pieces at this point or is the 10×10 reminding you how much you love them?
Feel free to keep sharing your outfits on Instagram with the #spring10x10 tag — it’s so fun to keep up with everyone’s looks!
See you tomorrow!

Nice combo with the blue and black! Never wore hats until we ended in Fl where they are more than an accessory. Nice to see the add of straw to the outfit…like in decor texture is a plus!-Laurel Bledsoe
Today was the coldest day yet – 50s! I’ve worn all my pieces and –confession– then some. I had to break out of my 10 today to cope with the weather, but damn it feels good!
those jeans look so comfortable!

Hi Caroline!
I like your outfit very much, the black and yellow combined with the blue jeans looks great!
Have a nice trip to Vegas and maybe next week you will share some tips and tricks for us. I love your articles about travel and style, they are very inspirational and helpful.
You think about everything when packing!

OBSESSED with this outfit, you rock :)
Did you consider the Everlane Go-Weave shirt in your black shirt quest? It looks super cute but a little baggy/long in the arms which is keeping me from pulling the trigger. Since we have a similar figure to you wondering if you had considered it.
Hey Chelsea, I was specifically looking for a raw silk top, so I hadn’t really considered the GoWeave, but I think it’s really cute and I’ve heard good feedback about it. If the sleeves are an issue, but you like everything else about it, you might want to consider taking it to a tailor and have them narrow the sleeve for you — then it will be like a custom fit! :)
It’s my first 10×10 challenge (I am actually doing a 14×14 and included weekends, so I’m on day 11). I have learned a few things on this one:
Choose your shoes wisely, otherwise you might end up walking 3 miles in shoes that aren’t the right answer
I really love the tops I chose and am not looking longingly for other tops, with the exception of not having to do laundry as much. Big note to myself to focus on the two styles I feel confident in rather than feeling like I need to branch out.
Missing other pants and shoes though…
I have a linen blazer I haven’t worn. I love the idea of a casual blazer and have lots pinned on Pinterest. However, it just seems too much for my lifestyle- a stay at home mom. I don’t know if it’s worth removing completely or if it’s just requires a more specific occasion than just daily mom stuff. We shall see…
Love that Georgia shirt! Yes, I did have one piece that I hadn’t worn yet, due to it being a bit warmer these past few weeks than I expected. Also, I didn’t get adventurous enough to try the shirt-over-dress look (and probably didn’t include the right shirts or dresses to try it anyway), so I swapped by black pullover out for a black cardigan. Keeps the AC chill off :)
this outfit is my jam! love it :) favorite yet!! have fun in vegas!!
I’ve been contemplating that ES top and love seeing you style it in a fancy + casual look. (I was worried it’d be too dressy for my everyday uniform – but this sort of pairing would totally work.) Also good to know it’s still comfortable when temps hit 90!

Hey there Dana! It’s definitely comfortable in the heat! But if you’re planning to wear it in hot temperatures, keep in mind, any color besides black will show sweat spots easily. :)
Still so in love with the drape of this shirt! <3

Caroline, your mentioning sweat spots showing on colors reminds me of something I’ve been thinking about regarding re-wearing pieces, and comments that “we’re laundering clothing items too often.” Since I’ve lived in Texas forever I’ve never been inclined to wear a top a second time (or even more) unless I’ve only had it on a couple hours, mostly far less, first time! Our weather is too warm/hot (w/rare “Winter” exceptions). But mostly it is HUMID, which encourages “glistening” (hubby’s term!). Or maybe it’s just my “chemical structure” … ? I really WISH I could, but I just cannot wear tops more than once.
How nice ~ and how much less work ~ that must be!!!
I love these boyfriend-style laid back jeans. I have curvy hips and i’m really tall so I have a hard time finding any that fit me right–you’ve inspired me to begin the search again after seeing this combo. It just seems like the perfect spring/summer errand running-bar patio sitting-hanging out with friends-but still looking cute type of outfit.
I have curvy hips too, and all boyfriend jeans gap at the back of my waist. So I just don’t wear them.
Hats are wonderful in the sunshine! This looks so cute and summery, I can’t wait for the temps to rise above 40f. It will be really fun to read your thoughts on the 10×10 on Monday, I know you’ve done a few so I’m curious to hear if you felt like it was much easier this time around.
So tempted to buy this shirt! Love the way it drapes :heart eyes:
I just love this shirt on you! It’s definitely on my short list for summer. It’s been fun following along with you and Lee on this 10×10!
xo
I really love this outfit, I would wear that as well ;) I especially like the jeans, such a cool cut and colour!
