4 ways to wear track pants

08/30/14

how-to-wear-track-pants

Apparently, track pants aren’t going anywhere. They’re big-time for fall. And thank goodness for that … because they are wildly comfortable.

Here are 4 ways I style mine:

Top left | Is it just me or is this look just off enough to be street style cool? The backpack is totally unexpected, while the topknot + graphic tee lend a chic vibe. (There’s no link for this outfit … yet. Posting it on Monday.)

Top right | Here’s a casual look — perfect for vacation — with a breezy white button up + panama hat + gladiator sandals. And … while I typically prefer to pair track pants with heels, they can be just as cool with flats.

Bottom left | Paired with a dark, loose tank + fun heels, this is definitely a going out look for me. Neon heels = party.

Bottom right | Another dressed up look, but this one feels a little snappier. The black + white palate feels modern, and the cheetah clutch brings in just enough interest.

Oh and … you should be sure to check out Jill’s blog for a round up of track pants for fall + ideas to style ’em. She knows what she’s talking about!

Oh you can make anything look really stylish! I have been following your blog for a while and recently wrote about it on mine, here http://theconsciencefund.com/2014/08/23/from-the-bloglovin-feed/ Check it out if you’d like! Your 37 piece wardrobe is a very inspiring idea and I am on a wardrobe cull of sorts thanks to that! :-)

Adorable outfits. I’m not a huge fan of track pants for myself, but you pull them off so well and make them look fabulous!

You look super cute in them! I’ve tried a bunch on and have yet to find a pair that is flattering on me….although maybe it’s better I don’t. I’d probably style with with a teeshirt and my birks which is decidedly less pulled together ;)

Just wanted to say that I love everything about your blog! We’re currently renovating our bedroom and ensuite so I bagged up LOTS of my clothes. I’ve already donated 6 bags and more to do. I have found living with less to be really freeing but I still have a long way to go before I narrow them down to a great capsule that I really love. I have been reading all your posts and working out what I’m going to put into my brand new built in closet. I’m determined to only put things in that I really love and wear. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I’m an Australian reader so I’m looking forward to my fresh Spring capsule tomorrow.

Caroline, I just wanted to tell you how inspiring your blog has been to me so far. I’ve stumbled upon it completely out of the blue, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the moment I did! I have recently felt inspired to start downsizing my closet and figuring out what it is that I need (in terms of lifestyle) and want to wear. It was one of these epithany moments when you open your wardrobe and discover that what you see no longer suits the person you’ve become – you know the feeling? For instance, I’ve noticed that although I’m 21 and have a relatively crystalised sense of style by now, over half of the (very nice!) garments occupying my hangers don’t fit my own vision of myself (in terms of appearance, of course ;)). I study a difficult subject that demands I dress professionally, so It was a real wake-up call to see that almost all of my current clothes can be classified as ‘fancy’ or ‘business attire’. This makes putting together outfits for going out, or even grabbing a casual coffee in town a real pain – I consistently feel overdressed and overly serious in such circumstances. It doesn’t help that I have a ‘baby face’, and need to be careful not to land at the opposite end of the spectrum…unfortunately, ‘get some cute clothes’ doesn’t cut it for me. I’ll look 12 if I do that.
To solve all this, I came up with a goal of coming up with 4 separate capsules for each season of the year, 1 separate year-round capsule for ‘business’ and 1 other capsule for trekking/ running/ cycling/other sports. Thanks to you, I’ve got my summer figured out already :)
I’m really happy to have stumbled upon this particular post, seeing as in an effort to incorporate more casual pieces into my fall wardrobe, I’ve ordered a nice, navy-blue pair of track pants yesterday. I was feeling apprehensive – I’ve never even considered purchasing track pants to wear out of the house (when I’m not excercising, that is!) – but this post has given me some great ideas to work with :) So thank you and have a lovely day!

You make track pants look so cute! I got a pair of what I guess can be considered track pants for fall – kinda like the lovechild of a legging and a harem pant. But being preggo, the whole tucking-tops-in thing doesn’t really work, so I’m thinking they’ll mostly be confined to the house ;)

Thank God they’re sticking around- I love the sporty contrasts they give to super fancy or feminine pieces. And I really want to get a black pair now! I have a light heather gray one, but I think mine end up looking much more casual than yours. Thanks for the super inspiring post :)

And here I thought I was wearing them wrong. But I see I’m not the only one who likes them pushed up to the mid-calf instead of grazing the ankle. Thanks for the inspiration!
