Capsule #3 / Outfit 25
THIS OUTFIT. Comfy. Easy. Natural. If you were to ask me to pick one outfit that represented me, it might be this one. I love the edgy half of my style to the ends of the earth, but there’s just something about this outfit that feels like home.
It’s kind of an autumn outfit in summer form, don’t you think? I can definitely see this same type of look with ankle booties + a chunky knit sweater. You can bet you’ll see it too — in my fall capsule.
I feel like I would always get all excited about fall weather + style at the beginning of August. But in Texas, we still have a couple months of way hot weather, so I would always be disappointed. No more! Something in my perspective has changed since having a rotating 3-month wardrobe, and I’m more present with the seasons. Since my summer capsule wardrobe started at the beginning of July, I’m like, “Hey, no rush autumn. Summer basically just started! Give me those pool days for two more months.”
Which is good because I really don’t have a choice in the matter. It’s going to be hawt.
Top: Bobeau
Bottoms: Gap

I love the wash on your jeans! really cool!

I just discovered your blog and am excited about all of the useful information you share! I was instantly inspired to read The Compound Effect, and have also listed many clothes that no longer fit on an online yard sale to make money for future purchases. First, I am working through your capsule wardrobe planner. I love your blog and appreciate your sharing! Thank you!
Perhaps this is an overly personal question, but I can’t help but notice how many of your shirts are very transparent or even have holes (especially the shirts in capsule #3, outfit 18; capsule #3, outfit 13; capsule #2, outfit 48; and capsule #2, outfit 46). I love shirts like these myself, but my bra/camisole is always VERY obvious underneath, and I hate that! You never have undergarments showing, which is super impressive (especially with the sweater in #2/26). SO, the question, what are you wearing underneath these things to stay modest but also not advertise your underwear?!
* I meant #2/46. :)
Totally want to know the same thing! I dislike wearing camisoles underneath, but I dislike my bras showing even more.
Would love your feedback.
Looove this outfit. So happy I found your blog, Caroline! I look forward to your posts every day and eagerly await the reveal of your fall capsule. Will that be starting at the beginning of September?
By the way, I adore those “shooties” you’re wearing in this outfit (and many others), but the price tag is a bit steep. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks so. I’m super happy to share that I found an identical pair at Target for $35!
You are so right Caroline! All of this back to school talk makes me want to go shopping for fall clothes but we are still in the middle of summer even though it has been a rather cooler one. Thanks for acknowledging what we are all feeling.
I’ve loved creating a summer capsule and purging down my clothes but I still have this itch in me to shop. This lifestyle is helping me be more patient and work through why I feel like I need something new all of the time. Thanks for the encouragement!
Your clothes and style are to die for! I regularly check in to see what you’ve been putting together. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love this look :) Love the colors and how put together it is. Would you consider doing an accessories post with your bags, hats, and jewelry soon? :)
Allll about the loose fitting t-shirt this summer. Great look!
If you don’t mind my asking, what color shirt are you wearing? Is it the heather grey from the website? Love the shade (whatever it is)!!
Hi Caroline! When do you typically begin planning your next capsule? What type of research do you do before shopping? I’d like to try a fall capsule wardrobe and am in the process of filing out your worksheets (love them!) but wondering what else goes into your planning process.
I just found your blog, and it is exactly what I need! I recently purged half my closet and am looking to get rid of even more. The idea of 37 pieces is something I will try to start next month!
Discovered your blog few days ago and read all the posts in one go! :)
I started reducing my wardrobe some time ago and the great feeling I had after throwing out over half of my closet convinced me that this is a perfect start to a simpler, lighter life (and healthier mind, too).
I cannot say that I am able to stay shopping mad free once in a while, but I keep everything in the black / white / grey colour palette (+ loads of marine stripes for summer:)) thanks to which all goes well together and there are no more “I’ve got nth to wear” morning dilema.
I may add some leopard print snickers or a cobalt autumn coat to make a statement, but that’s about it. Less is more! :)
I am looking forward to seeing more of your outfits on the blog, and let me just say: this post’s clothes would be my first choice, too!
Warm greetings from very hot & sunny Poland :)
Ok so this is kind of a silly question but I ended up buying the top in this post and then wondered if there was anyway to see all of the outfit combinatios with that top. Is there an easy way to link the various pieces in your capsule to show how you’ve styled it before? I love your style I just think I would have trouble being as creative as you on my own. I apparently need training wheels for my first capsule haha.
Thanks for sharing these outfits and pieces of your life (your home is gorgeous!), you continue to inspire!
I had some free time on my hands and went through Caroline’s entire summer capsule so far to get the links for you. Looks like she’s only worn the top one other time so far: http://www.un-fancy.com/summer-outfits/summer-whites-cognac/
PS – How are you liking the top? Is it really see-through or perfect without an undershirt? I’m thinking of purchasing it as well.
xo, Nicolle
I’m loving it, Nicolle! It’s very lightweight, but I’m comfortable in it without an undershirt. Just a nude bra and you’re good to go! xoxo Caroline
You are awesome Nicolle! Thank you :)
It is pretty thin (haven’t worn it just yet) but I think Caroline is right, with a nude bra it would be just fine. I purchased it thinking I could get away with this in a fall wardrobe but here it gets a little bit more chilly so I might just save it for the next season.
I love this idea, Ashley! I’ve actually been wanting to incorporate that feature. Hopefully soon! xoxo Caroline
