Capsule #3 / Outfit 14
It’s Friday and you know what that means — #unfancyfriday! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it is + why I started it. Basically, I thought it’d be really cool to have a style lookbook from all kinds of different people + all kinds of different lifestyles. I’d love it if you’d join in today on Instagram, snap a selfie of your outfit today, and tag it #unfancyfriday.
Have you seen Colbie Caillat’s new video Try yet? I have to be honest: I shed a happy tear at the end. Maybe it’s just because I was having an insecure day (oh hey, cellulite). But … as a person who has had her fair share of insecure days (and as a person who is fiercely protective of her sisters + lady friends + little nieces) I was glad that someone was out there saying this.
There’s been a decent amount of debate over the video, but I think the heart of it is right on: it’s not so much about whether or not we’re wearing makeup, it’s about our motivation behind it. Are we doing it because we enjoy it? Or are we doing it to find validation + love from others? Are we looking at it as an opportunity to express ourselves, to be creative, to play? Or is it an attempt to hide ourselves behind an image?
Makeup or no makeup, that’s up to you. I believe the most important thing is that you take good care of you + that heart of yours first.
Shirt: J.Crew
Dress: old from Banana Republic (similar)

Hey Caroline! Nice how you dressed down that white dress! I wrote a post about the video “Try” on my blog I thought it was a brave act for Colbie and I applaud her for it. She wrote that song because she was feeling the pressure to be something/one she was not. Thanks for sharing the video with your readers!
Your hair looks extra lovely in this post. Whenever I get down about any cellulite I have, I just remind myself that super cute baby bums have it, too :)
Oh, also, you are making me want a pair of birks.
this is so cute! love the light chambray over the white dress. :)

Just discovered your blog via Colletterie and I love your idea for a capsule wardrobe. My style is different to yours, but I think I can still make it work.
I just blogged today about wanting a capsule wardrobe and someone directed me here. Loving everything so far! This is an adorable look on you.
Just wanted to let you know that this is outfit 14, as you posted outfit 12 twice!
Caroline,
I love your style, and find your blog extremely helpful, one of the best out there about capsule wardrobes, even though my style is very different from yours. Found you via Into Mind, whom I have been following along with Minimalist Beauty for quite a while now, and those two have been as helpful to me as is now your blog. I’ve read all your previous posts, and am now a faithful follower via Bloglovin’. Thanks for your great blog!
