Happy Friday! Hasn’t this week been fun with Jaana + Jacquelyn joining us?! I can already sense a new energy up in here.
This weekend Aaron’s parents are coming in town to visit and we have all kinds of fun things planned: Some down time in the hill country, hitting up a jazz club, and exploring downtown Bastrop — the cutest little town just outside of Austin. We kind of want to move there someday and become small town people again.
Whatever you’re up to this weekend, here are a few things you might enjoy:
My new music obsession — Ghost Beach.
A reminder that today is not over yet — there’s still room for possibility.
A super simple lip scrub DIY. I made it the other day … because, January.

Sweater: Forever 21
Skirt: old from Aritzia (similar here)
Shoes: old from Madewell (similar or similar)
Bag: Marc Jacobs (similar for less here)
Earrings: Madewell
Bare legs in January?! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! We had minus 2 here this morning, so I think this would be more of a spring outfit for us ladies here in the UK!
Loving your work though Caroline, I’ve totally transformed my wardrobe using the unfancy rules.

I agree!! Today I am wearing the whole winter capsule at once!! :-)
Totally love skirts made from that material, that soft thin linen; it’s so fresh and easy to style ! Love Bella xox
I love the simplicity of this! Perfect outfit! Have a great weekend!

I love this blog so much. Started my first capsule wardrobe at the beginning of January. I find that I’m really enjoying making unexpected combinations with my clothes, but finding the not shopping bit really hard already…
This article reminded me of what you said in an earlier post about having one priority for the year: http://oliveremberton.com/2014/if-you-want-to-follow-your-dreams-you-have-to-say-no-to-all-the-alternatives/ It really hit home.
Also coconut oil and brown sugar also work as a great lip scrub.
Happy Friday. X ps. Do you have a capsule wardrobe for lounge wear as well?
Hello dear Caroline,
i’m pretty sure this is my first comment on your blog, but i really wanted to tell you two things…
One, i adore your style! You look gorgeous and i love every single outfit you wear on this blog, really!
Two, i’ve been reading your blog for a little while now and i wanted to tell you that you really inspired me into starting my own minimalist wardrobe this year! I love the idea to gain more by having less, i have way too many clothes that i wear only once every 2 years and that’s just a huge waist of space and money. Also one of my year plan is to move in with my love so i really need to make some room in my small apartment! Anyway, just wanted to use my first comment here to thank you for the huge inspiration i found on your blog!
xoxo

Really lovely simple outfit and that sweater is absolutely amazing – I love how chunky and cozy it is!

Love this outfit today as well, Caroline. Hope you have a great weekend with the in-laws! Have truly loved meeting the two guest bloggers this week, and I’m digging on some Ghost Beach today. Loving the 80’s pop electro feel, thanks for the recommend! Are you a Two Door Cinema Club fan? Similar vibe.
Thanks!
Jodie
I don’t know if I could love that sweater any more.
My big weekend goal is to finalize my first capsule wardrobe collection for Feb-Apr (the holidays were just too crazy to start in January). So excited!
However, I really just wanted to comment to say that your hair looks fantastic! It has that effortless messy chic thing going on that I always attempt and only occasionally achieve. Have fun this weekend!
I love that sweater! Having always been a city girl I’ve always been curious about what it would be like to live in a small town.
I got “Paradox of Choice” after seeing one of your reading suggestions and I finally understand why I am hanging on to clothes that don’t fit, don’t feel good, or don’t work. My plan for this weekend is to tackle my emotional attachment to these things in my closet. Thanks for sharing the books you read.
Very cute! ^^ That sweater is so so cute!
Love this outfit Quite possibly the epitome of Unfancy in my opinion :)
The main reason I wanted to comment today was to thank you for sharing the idea that “Today is not over yet” — SERIOUSLY needed to hear that. Unfancy is so much more than a fashion blog, and I love you for that!
I started a capsule this Winter and so far I’m loving it! I am inspired by your capsule, but I have to be honest, your capsule is unrealistic for the ladies living in colder climates. But that’s what makes a capsule great, I guess! It’s all unique to our own self. I love this blog, by the way.
Are you going to stop at the Berdoll Pecan gift shop for a photo session with Miss Pearl?
Love love love! I don’t even know why I bother to say something different each time I comment as I always say the same thing… Love love love! I am so excited for the guest bloggers. 2015 is looking to be a great year for this blog it’s very inspiring. Have a good weekend xox
I like this sweater/skirt combination much more than the one you shared last week :) Hit it out of the park!
I love those earrings! I bought them myself during the Black Friday sale last year and I adore them. They’re just the perfect size and so lovely — understated but still interesting. I wear them for long stretches at a time. ^_^
Yoga in Gruene tomorrow then Some shopping in NB the lunch at Clear Springs. We love New Braunfels. In two weeks we are replanting trees at Bastrop State Park.
oh my goodness, that sweater! I’m obsessed.
Hey Caroline! A few months ago I purchased a simple fit & flare dress but haven’t worn it much because I’m struggling with different ways to style it. When I saw you had one in your winter capsule I was excited to see how you mix it up! Would you ever do a post featuring different ways to wear one item? I would love to see your ideas for such a dress! :) Have a great weekend!
Hi there! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Just wanted to say I love how you have added guests to your blog…they are adding even more of a voice to what you are doing, and they both have such different points of view as far as where they are in life! I love the variety.
Cheers!
I just found your blog, and I absolutely LOVE the idea of a 37 item capsule wardrobe! I think you are the perfect example of how you don’t need to own/wear a lot to be happy and have variety in your life. I will definitely have to try this! P.S Love this outfit x
I just came across your blog for the first time, and I absolutely love it! I’m currently on a multi-month trip around the world, and traveling long term has made me realize how much less STUFF I need. I’m so inspired by your capsule method and can’t wait to put it to practice in my own life when I get home. Keep up the awesome work and beautiful photos :)
Caroline you are so sweet to share your inspiration and fresh ideas! Thank you for everything you do!
I started to follow you a few months ago, and dressing up started to feel more fun! I still try to figure everything out, since I have 3 kids, and still nursing my little one. But your ideas help me to look my best even at this time of my life! They say it is important to set a good example for your kids :-)!
I’ve been downsizing my wardrobe after being inspired by un-fancy! I absolutely love your style. Also, I’m totally going to blame you if I chop off all of my hair and get bangs. Had to comment b/c my parents live in Bastrop – such a cute little town!
