5.29 lighten up!

03/02/15

winter-outfits-195 winter-outfits-196 winter-outfits-197

The temps may still be chilly, but I’m ready to lighten up + get ready for spring! Hence the all-white outfit. I’m throwing off the dark colors of winter and tackle-hugging light, airy hues.

And a light, airy attitude.

You too? Love it. The shift from winter to spring is so refreshing, so full of hope. I’m feeling it deep down.

I’ve officially decided my color for the spring is going to be blue. All shades of blue — from soft mint to indigo.

I’m pretty excited about it.

I’ve also officially decided to keep these flats in my spring capsule. That means they’ve been in every capsule I’ve ever made.

Very cool.

First spring sneak peek is coming on Wednesday! :)

Love the white jeans! I’m attempting to find a pair at the moment but can’t seem to find ones in a style that suits me. Sigh. xx

I love this outfit and I’m looking forward to seeing your spring capsule.
I plan on doing my first capsule for spring after researching your website for the past couple months.
Excited to see what you choose since our weather is similar (from Dallas) :-)

Oh I can hardly wait for your spring capsule wardrobe! I’ve created my first capsule wardrobe this winter after I found your blog, and I’m also going to have a lot of blues in my spring wardrobe.

Cannot wait to see it! I really want to try a capsule wardrobe to declutter my life a bit but I must first get away from the habit of thrift shopping! It’s so hard! But I think I’ll be ready to try it this summer!

I love this outfit, but I don’t think I could pull off an all white outfit. Cannot wait to see your spring capsule with touches of blue! Blue is my favorite color, but I don’t usually see it in capsules unless it’s navy. Looking forward to see how you mix it in!

P.s. I’ve been drooling over those shoes every time you wear them…if they hold up that well and are that versatile I might agave to treat myself this month :)

I just made my spring capsule wardrobe transformation this weekend, because I’ve been getting all bored with the winter one. I just decided to change outerwear (shoes, coat and maybe the scarves too) when the temperatures get up (temperatures are still hovering around zero here in Finland, so no trench coat or loafers yet). This was a good decision, I feel so much lighter and enthusiastic about the clothes now!

My spring capsule wardrobe has (like it tends every spring) a lot of stripes, more white, a little bit light blue, lighter jeans and one very girly flower dress (navy blue and white, so not so colorful still)! It feels nice after the winter capsule, which consisted mostly of black and grey colors… No matter how comforting they might be in the (what seems like) eternal darkness, it’s nice to move on with the more springy colors! Feels like the actual spring would be a little bit closer!

Love that all white look. So refreshing!
could you share your technique for doing your hair like that? I have about the same length and I can never get the same volume when I put it up in a bun!

My spring capsule is featuring a rainbow of pretty pale hues. It makes me happy. I think I’m going to have to buy another pair of blue jeans, though, because the rainbow-of-pale-hue-tops just won’t work with my winter standby red jeans like all my grey tees and sweaters did. :)

Also, are you going to ask for submissions for guest bloggers again? I just didn’t have my act together last fall, but I would love to submit and application if there’s another chance. :)

Love the all white! For spring I’m really drawn to blue as well. For some reason I’ve been feeling the nautical theme for spring. The weather is finally heading in a warmer direction so I’m hoping to have my spring capsule ready for mid-late march. :)

    Hey Caroline,

So looking forward to your Spring collection and yay for blue! My wardrobe is most navy, indigo and deep blues (my favorite color) so I’m really excited to see that.

I love your outfit today too, but I wonder if you have any tips on wearing white when you have a very fair skin? I’d say we’re about the same skintone and it’s hard for me to wear white, I always feel I look really washed out… I don’t want to tan, either though!

I love the all-white/all-ivory look! I’d be terrified to wear it, myself, but it looks great. I should probably take the plunge and give it a try–I do have a white dog, so her shedded fur would blend right into my outfit :).

I LOVE those d’orsay flats! I have a pair of black ones that are an essential part of my winter capsule but are now thrashed to death… so I’m considering a pair of nude leather ones for spring :D

Blue is my favorite! It’s the color I can’t live without in all my capsules. Last summer, my capsule was mostly blue and neutrals with pops of red (which will probably stay the same), so I can’t wait to see how you incorporate blue.

Blues and corals for me! I always love blue and I’ve been so drawn to the lovely shades of coral this spring that I’m seeing everywhere! My early-perusal shipment from Old Navy arrived today and there is some super-cute stuff I am excited about!

Blue is one of the few colors (non-neutral) that suit both my taste and my complextion. I’m thrilled to be able to see you work in your up-coming spring wardrobe.
A fun note from my capsule closet: being a dressmaker, I often prepare for the upcoming season by staking out new materials and clothing designs. Pinterst is an absolute fairground of inspiration for me. I pin my look and make it. easy-peasy. Plus, the fit is better for my bird-boned frame.
Other times, I enjoy revamping the previous year’s clothing. Sometimes that means unpicking a dress bodice to add a button placket. Other times, its a bit more drastic. At the end of the day, it has the pizzazz of a new dress with the fabulous fit of the old. I also make my cutoffs from the previous year’s worn out jeans– saves in the budget department and, if I loved the jean’s fit once, I’ll love it again.
I can truly appreciate how working my items in capsule rotations lessens the amount of wear they get! Thus, I have less to make for the upcoming season. yay!
    cheers,
    Mia

I LOVE your blog. I found it a couple months ago. I was wondering would you ever be interested in making a YouTube channel? I know it is a big step, but I know current minimal fashion YouTubers and you would just fit in. I would love for the community to connect more, and I think you would be wonderful. I will always support you!

So excited to see your spring capsule! I’ve decided on blues and accents of olive green for my spring capsule, so I’m excited to get some inspiration.

A question, though– does this mean you will continue with 4 capsules per year? Did you give any more thought to the 2 larger ones? I’m debating now so is love to hear about your thought process.

Hi Caroline! Just curious: how do you keep your bangs in check? Do you cut them yourself or go get them trimmed often? Thinking of going back to a blunt bang (currently a side-bang-er) but not looking forward to all the upkeep. Thanks!

Gorgeous outfit – this is one of my favourites of the season. Looking forward to your spring capsule! I am getting my autumn/winter capsule ready although am pleasantly surprised with what I have already in the closet. I just have a couple of pieces to buy which means I can invest in some quality pieces to enhance what’s already there. Thanks for your inspiration.

I’m scrolling through your posts and nodding so much I look like a bobble head! I agree whole heartedly with your process and logic! I can’t believe I never thought about it like this before! Thank you so much Caroline!
