personal reflections

3 years ago today

10/22/14

Aaron_Caroline_Blog_023

Aaron_Caroline_Blog_024

Three years ago today, Aaron and I got married in his parent’s backyard, surrounded by a handful of our dearest family members + friends.

Insert one thousand smiley face emojis here!!

We met in high school — he was the cool senior, I was the super nerdy + shy sophomore, so we never really talked until a few years after college when we reconnected. Over Facebook — oh modern romance. :) Then we fell in love on our first date and were married eight months later.

We’re a couple of crazy kids.

And we LOVE it!

We’re in full on celebration mode today, so no outfit post today — but they’ll be back tomorrow.

If you want, you can see more of our wedding photos by Ryan Ray right here.

xo!

Beautiful story! Ah, modern romance :) You saying that reminds me of a Facebook TV spot that just came out. Take a look whenever you’re free! I think you’ll like it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMJvw-RfTEI

Congratulations, you two! Many many many more years to come.

You are my sister in another life, I swear. I’m a huge fan of small, intimate weddings. Love your engagement ring + plain band combo (I have the same). Love that you look like a slightly more polished you instead of a super done-up version on your wedding day (I did this too). AND, I also met my husband in high school where I barely spoke to him and we reconnected through Facebook after college.

LOVE everything about this post :)
    Enjoy your day!

Oh my goodness congratulations and happy anniversary!!! You two are ridiculously adorable and seem so happy together. I found your blog the other week through your interview on the Lively Show and I am OBSESSED. I may have bought a J. Crew chambray shirt and some “cognac” ankle boots since finding your blog (but I also cleaned out my closet!)….. and I got my aunt and a couple friends hooked. Keep up the great work – your site is so inspiring and a joy to read every day. xoxo

I think it depends on the couple and not really with geography. Some places have arranged marriages and they get married 6 months after even learning of the person. I’m in Texas and my husband and I got married after 5 years of dating. It just depends on the maturity level of each couple. Caroline and Aaron are SO stupid in love and I’m happy that they figured out what they need in a partner at such an early age.

I agree with Tania [girlwithanakita], it really does depend on the couple. I met my husband when he was stationed in Engand the with Air Force. We met in April of 1995 and got married in January 1996. I moved to the States with him in January 1997 and we will be celebrating our 19th anniversary next year. We have three beautiful girls (14, 9, & 5) and we’re both more in love now than we’ve ever been. We have friends who were high school sweethearts who got married after being with each other for years. They are now divorced and married again to other partners, so you really never know how things are going to turn out.

My hubby and I celebrated 13 years back in June. We were babies when we got married, engaged only three weeks after our first date, married seven months later!

I knew from our first date! Still so into him. He truly is the love of my life.

Congrats Caroline!! Your wedding was BEAUTIFUL and impeccably styled! I also had a backyard wedding and celebrated 3 years earlier this month! We got married in a family friend’s backyard but have talked about celebrating one of our anniversaries by going back and having a candlelit dinner outside! Hope you have an amazing time celebrating!!

My husband and I worked together for a year before we went on our first date. Three weeks later we were engaged and a year later married. This year will be #7 for us. Every day I love him more. You don’t have to know someone for ages to know they match you.

Congratulations on your Anniversary! Best of Luck for the future.

So, are you both originally from Southlake? I’m just a little further west on 114.
I love your blog! I lurk here every day. Sometime in the future, could you please explain how you went from a fast fashion shopaholic to a minimalist? Counseling? Twelve step program? How?

I’ve been following your blog for a while now and I love it! You were the first minimalist fashion blog that really caught my eye. I’m not much of a commenter but I come here everyday for inspiration.
But today is a special day, so congrats, enjoy and have a lot of fun along the way!

What a great story! My husband and I went to high school together too! One grade apart at a small school, our circles overlapped but we never did! We met through mutual friends (and with the help of Facebook and AOL Instant Messenger!) during college. Congrats!

Congratulations! I am getting married in a few short weeks and this might sound a little odd but I am debating whether or not to spray tan beforehand. I am no stranger to spray tanning and tanning beds, but as of recently I have become to embrace my white skin. Part of my new confidence in it has been from this blog and also from Lauren at “Lauren Elizabeth.” Both of you are on the fair side and post pics of you in various outfits showing off white legs, and I have sort of come to think, why not me too? My dress is ivory lace off-the-shoulder so basically only my arms and face will show. Thoughts?

Congrats, Sarah! Marriage is awesome. :) I say go natural — I did it and it felt so “me”. And … speaking from 7 years experience as a wedding photographer … even the best spray tans can look a little unnatural in photos. Just my opinion, though. :) xo Caroline
