Have you ever …
Wanted to make a difference? Wanted to help other ladies feel confident + beautiful? Wanted to just put more good out there?
This is your invitation. I’m looking for 2-3 ladies to join Unfancy as guest bloggers from January 2015 – March 2015.
First, read over these statements + make sure they sound authentic to you:
- I think capsule wardrobes are awesome. Even though I may have a different number than 37, I still subscribe to the general idea of Unfancy.
- I love to write. Even if what I write only helps one person, it’s worth it to me.
- I’m a positive + hopeful person. And I really like to toss kindness around like confetti.
- I may not be a professional model, but I don’t mind being in front of the camera.
- I live in the USA. (For logistical reasons this first time around. In the future, it’ll be open to everyone.)
- The time commitment (January – March) works for me. I’m cool with being responsible for 4 blog posts during that time (1 capsule wardrobe post + 3 outfit posts).
Do those statements make you stand up + say “YEAH!”? Then girl — get ready to apply!
HERE’S HOW TO APPLY:
Pretend you’re writing a regular outfit blog post for Unfancy — here’s an example. Include pictures of you wearing the outfit (iPhone snaps are fine, but I’m looking for good composition) + text (a bit of style advice infused with your authentic voice) + links to the items you’re wearing.
Jot down a quick personal note about your style + lifestyle + why you think you’d be a great fit for Unfancy.
Email it over to unfancyblog@gmail.com. And DONE!
All applications are due November 1st. You’ll hear back from me on November 8th.
Can’t WAIT to hear from you!
OMG! This is a great opportunity but I think I’ll wait for the next period. Good luck in this new blogging adventure
Too bad I don’t live in America!! :( :( :(
Oh how fun! I love that you’re asking your readers instead of contacting already established fashion blogs – kinda makes it more authentic and accessible :) I’m not sure if you even thought it out this far just yet, but do you have a preferred ‘due date’ for these posts? Like, do you prefer them to turn all in by end of December so you can decide when to post throughout the season, or like a once a month entry thing? I’m asking cause I feel like I get smacked with good advice randomly as I live life, instead of have it all reserved in my brain lol
I’m looking forward to reading some posts by your guest bloggers :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
I think it is brilliant that you are opening this up for some guest bloggers. I am looking forward to seeing what your contributors … contribute. I am really keen to work down to a capsule wardrobe and although I probably do wear the same things all the time I wouldn’t say it is intentional or at all stylish yet so excited to get a slightly different perspective from your guests. Maybe I will ‘grow’ and be able to join in, in the future. Good luck.
Cool project :)
Just curious why you are only looking for American guest authors… I am Canadian and love to read your blog, and I think it would be really interesting to see perspectives on the capsule wardrobe from around the world.
Hi Amanda! Just for logistical reasons this time. There’s a good chance flying will be involved (either me to them, them to me, or a photographer to them) so we’re keeping things close to home. This first time, I’m simply getting my bearings. But in the future, once I learn a little more, I’ll be opening it up to anyone, anywhere — because I totally agree, it would be amazing to learn from people all around the world. :) xo Caroline
Ah, that makes sense. Looking forward to reading the guest posts, and more of yours, of course!
Can’t wait til you widen the net – I am IN LOVE with my capsule wardrobe :)
I’m also curious if Canadians can join. I love my capsule, but it sure is a challenge with our four seasons :)
Awwwww shucks. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m up in Canada I would have LOVED this. You inspired me to do a HUGE decluttering in August and I’ve been in love with my Fall wardrobe capsule, already planning my winter one. I look forward to reading the guest posts :) Seems like a fun/cool series idea!
It seems like you have a lot of Canadian readers!! You should definitely open up the next round to us Canucks :) I would definitely apply!
I love love love reading your blog, and it has been so inspiring to me. I started my own capsule wardrobe this fall and have been loving it so far!

You’ve got a great site! I know you’re asking for guest reader blogging applications; but if you ever decide to seek out other bloggers, I’d like to recommend “LIGHT by Coco” (a minimalist lifestyle blog I stumbled upon). She occasionally writes and vlogs about her Project333 capsules among other things. Readers may enjoy her aesthetics/style, similar to yours. Just wanted to share my find, cause the world wide web is so huge. [I do not know the author of “LIGHT by Coco”. I’m just a reader of hers, just like I’m a reader of yours.]
Sounds fun! I might apply. I’m new to capsule wardrobes but they’ve been on my mind for long time, so I might have something to offer readers (if only a slightly different style and weather considerations).
I listened to your podcast with Jess Lively just a couple of days ago! I’ve been thinking on a capsule wardrobe for a couple of years now and the podcast revived my belief in a minimal wardrobe. I hope I might be able to contribute to these guest posts if you do them again in the future! I’m just not there yet.
I don’t fit the necessary criteria, but you should reach out to Coco (http://www.lightbycoco.com/) because I think she would fit in perfectly with you and your blog. I follow you both and would love to see a collaboration. :)
I am a Canadian living in Vermont, so I feel like I should apply for this just to rep my fellow Canucks! :) Winter + snow style FTW!
Great idea!
I currently live overseas :( But would love to try when you open it up to more people!
*YEAH!* My application is definitely coming your way girl!
So exciting to wake up to this blog post in my inbox today! Sounds like an amazing opportunity! Excited to get started on my application.
I am new to Unfancy and am so excited about the concept of a capsule wardrobe. I’ve spent QUITE a lot of company time reading past posts and pondering my closet the last few weeks. (sorry boss, priorities!) Not to mention the hours i’ve spent staring at my clothes, scheming and strategizing (and weeding out the items that don’t make the cut). I’d really like to see posts from guest bloggers in different climate zones (why are so many fashion bloggers from southwestern climes?! Some of us get cold, gross weather for much of the year!! It’s okay though, I love you anyway. :) ) You’re awesome, Caroline – thank you for this beautiful resource you have created and for sharing your wisdom and creativity.
Ooooo…I SO want to do this! We’ll have to see if I can get my act together before November 1st, though.
And I’m from Montana, so I definitely have to dress for all sorts of the “cold, gross weather” that Jen mentions in the comment above me. :)
I won’t be applying but I just wanted to say I am SO EXCITED about the direction you are going to take this fantastic blog and concept.
Here’s a question for you: How open are to you to style that mostly comes from personal creations and thrifting? Does the closet need to be composed of new clothes? I realize a handmade/thrifted closet can, in theory, be harder to reproduce (or maybe easier, but it depends on if you like that sort of thing). What do you think?
Ah! This sounds so fun! Unfortunately my nice camera is in the shop for the next three weeks :( maybe next time. Can’t wait to see what the guest bloggers come up with!
Nice! I’d love to see a diverse array of ages, body types and styles (though I realize you have your own goals for your blog), so to that end, my 39-year-old, work-at-home-mama, chubby self will send an application your way.
Thanks for the inspiration.
What will be the compensation for this work?
I love this idea. A few of my friends and I formed a capsule collection support group to help each other through the process of purging, storing, and selecting clothing. Everyone is so excited about the freedom in time and finances that it is bringing. Not to mention it has stirred up a lot of convicting emotional lessons as well – like – Why did I waste money buying that? Why am I holding on to this? Who was I trying to pretend to be with that? etc. Awesome stuff all around, thanks for being the catalyst for us.
Ooh, a group with friends sounds fantastic. I have one local friend who’s doing it and we talk each other’s ears off about it when we get together for lunch. I love how introspective it has made me about what *seems* like such a shallow topic, but really isn’t :)
I am so so so excited for this :) I also think it’s awesome that you’re opening this up to readers and can’t wait to send in a writing sample.
I stumbled across your site recently, and have to say, I love it! I’m a small business owner, and bit of an artsy/craftsy person that decided my goal from this fall to the end of the year was to “make” any item of clothing that I would have normally bought. My style is similar to yours, and find that most of your capsule pieces are those that I’ve been sewing myself. I’ve been thinking of applying to be a guest writer – sounds like a great opportunity!
I simply adore your blog! If not for being on vacation and away from home, I would jump at the opportunity to submit much inspired posts to your blog on my capsule collection. I look forward to the next opportunity because your minimalist approach is one that I have dedicated my own life towards for the past five years, and would love to contribute my own vision and creativity to something that is original, positive, and not to mention, fashionable!
Sounds like such a great opportunity! Can’t wait to apply :)
I am new to your site & am so inspired. Your writing style & photos are fabulous. I would love to see a guest blogger with a more office/work wardrobe. And from a colder climate!
Love your blog and ideas; and I know just the person who fits this description. I’m going to email her today.
Thank you.
just applied!
Just stumbled across your blog today (via the lovely Jess Lively), so it looks like I missed out on this opportunity this time around. *sniffles* Butttt, I would love to be a part of your next round of guest bloggers, if possible! I write for a living, so totally comfortable with that part of it & I am so inspired by your story and the idea behind a capsule wardrobe. I’m going to go home and clear out my closet tonight — with your planner in hand, of course! :)
So I was just casually browsing the weather, thinking about what I was going to wear on an upcoming trip when it hit me that I DIDN’T APPLY TO BE A GUEST BLOGGER YET and I raced over here to find the application page and was going to send you an “I’m-so-sorry-I-am-a-delinquent-and-rogue-application-submitter-but-if-you-could-consider-me-for-the-next-round-or-something-I-would-LOVE-to-be-a-guest-blogger” email, but then I realised (and remembered why I didn’t submit in the first place): I live in Canada.
Anyways, I will be awaiting the next round of guest-blogging requests that are open for international residents! Why? Because, no offense at all, but the un-fancy outfit examples are not feasible for most of the year here but I can take your principles and apply them to my outfits more suited to a northern climate, and who better to than someone who hails from the great white north?!
Aww! Sounds like an amazing opportunity, but unfortunately we don’t live in the US :(
